FIELD END INFANT SCHOOL

Our closest friends and neighbours are the children and staff of Field End Infant School with whom we have many of our parents in common.

We are situated on the same site and are “just a hop” across the way from each other.  This ensures that we have some excellent transition practice and processes in place which, we all hope, makes the move to the juniors less daunting.  In the summer term prior to the children joining us in Year 3, the Year 2 children make several formal and informal visits to us, including exclusive use of our cycle track for a morning, playtime with the Healthy Tuck Shop open for business and a Q&A session with the Year 3s, whose positive reflections of their own transition are still very much relevant and fresh.

As well as good liaison between the class teachers, we also ensure that members of senior staff from both schools meet to discuss every child who is transferring to us and to ensure that all necessary paperwork, records and action plans are in place prior to the children arriving.

We like to think that we get transition “right” but are always open to any suggestions or input from parents to be even better!
