WHAT IS PUPIL PREMIUM

The pupil premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.  Pupil premium funding is available to both mainstream and non-mainstream schools, such as special schools and pupil referral units. It is paid to schools according to the number of pupils who have been:

  • Registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years or
  • Been in care for six months or longer.

All members of staff, governors and teaching assistants accept responsibility for ‘socially disadvantaged’ pupils and are committed to meeting their pastoral, social and academic needs within the school environment.

Field End Junior School is committed to ‘Narrowing the Gap’ for disadvantaged pupils and the pupil premium fundung forms a vital part of that process. The governors reserve the right to allocate the pupil premium funding to support any pupils or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.

Provision will be made through:

  • Facilitating pupils’ access to education.
  • Facilitating pupils’ access to the curriculum.
  • Alternative support and intervention within the school.
