The National Curriculum at Field End Junior School

maths5
Our curriculum is our plan of all the exciting and purposeful learning that we intend should take place.  We strive to engage our children, add spark and energy to their lessons and promote a strong sense of self-worth.  In line with most schools, we work from and develop the National Curriculum to meet our children's needs and in doing this we place a high emphasis on basic skills, encouraging all our children to achieve their full potential.  Most of all, we believe in making learning enjoyable, motivating, fun and purposeful.  We aim to foster creativity in order that our children will become independent learners – for life!
We work tirelessly to create an enriched curriculum for our children, injecting varied and rich learning experiences. Every term each class has at least one first-hand learning experience; they might go on a visit or we may invite a visitor into school. We also have themed events each term which encourage our children to explore their learning through a wider range of creative opportunities.
Learning outside the classroom is important for us at Field End Junior School and, in delivering this aspect of the curriculum, we are fortunate to have a large amount of outdoor space which includes our sports field, our cycle track and some extensive grounds.
We are also very proud of our “hidden curriculum”.  This the curriculum through which they learn from the way they are treated, how to treat others and how they are expected to behave.  We want all our children to grow into positive, responsible people who can work and co-operate with others, while at the same time developing their knowledge and skills in order to achieve success.
