Parent Helpers
At Field End Junior School we welcome and value the help of parents who come in to help with jobs around the school and there are many and varied opportunities across the year which benefit tremendously from the input of parents. Some parents come in regularly at a set time each week, others come when they can. Some help with tasks at home. Many of the activities the children currently enjoy would not be possible without this voluntary help.
Here are some examples of how you might be able to get involved:
Helping with reading
Parents are actively encouraged to come into school each week to listen to children read. It would be great to see both mums and dads doing this. If you wish to volunteer please speak to Ms. Dubisson at Reception, either in person or on 02088668752.
Extra-Curricular Sports Activities
As part of our plans for extending the variety of sports we provide after school and at lunchtimes we would be keen to hear from any parents who are Qualified Coaches and could help run a club. Again, please contact Ms. Dubisson at Reception, either in person or on 02088668752.
Special Knowledge, Skills, Talents and Experiences
If you are a parent or carer at Field End Junior School and have a special knowledge, skill, talent or experience please do let us know. This may be related to your work, your hobbies, your faith or culture. We would love you to come in and talk to the children about it so that they hear more about society and the wider world at first hand.
School Trips
When a class goes out on a school visit, we ask for parent helpers to accompany the children. Class teachers or Ms. Dubisson may ask for volunteers when the trip is being organised. Please contact your class teacher if you wish to help.
Please note: it is not always possible to take every parent who wishes to accompany a school visit. Class teachers are responsible for finalising the list of parent helpers and may prioritise working parents who volunteer, as they cannot always be available to help out in school.
Adults helping in school with the children are always under the supervision of member of staff, who will explain the task, what is required of the children and the helper’s role within that setting.
All Parents who help on a regular basis in school are subject to a full check being carried out by the Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS).
